The Lambourne End Centre For Outdoor Learning
Congratulations to The Lambourne End centre for being chosen as the recipients of a £150 donation from the winning team of 2nd Langham's recent quiz night.
Lambourne End Centre for Outdoor Learning provides high quality personal development experiences to young people providing opportunities for them to look at the way they view themselves, the world in which they live and the people with whom they share it. Situated in West Essex close to the Central tube line, we work with over 12,500 young people each year living predominantly in East London and Essex. About 40% of the young people visiting the Centre are disadvantaged due to disability, sensory impairment, behavioural problems, being affected by mental illness, at risk of becoming not in education, employment and training (NEET), living in care or affected by addiction. We provide tailored alternative education using our adventure, farm and environmental activities, delivering programmes of activity using team-building and adventurous outdoor learning uniquely combined with hands-on farming activities, conservation and horticultural education. Activities range from a low ropes course over water, kayaking on a swimming pool, climbing a 30ft wall, archery, mountain biking, bush craft, pond dipping and farm education visits, and focus on developing individual’s self-esteem, raising their confidence and improving their life skills. This alternative environment sees that young people who find they struggle in traditional mainstream environments (be that in employment, school, with law or family) achieve and flourish.
